RULES FOR USER CONDUCT
As part of its mission, Weill Cornell Medical Library wishes to maintain a safe and comfortable environment conducive to study and the use of information resources. Library users are expected show consideration for other users and for members of the Library staff.
All users are required to abide by the Library's borrowing and lending rules which have been designed to provide for the best service for all users. These rules exist in written form and will be supplied upon request by members of the Circulation Staff.
THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE LIBRARY:
a. Eating/bringing in food
b. Drinking, except from authorized non spillable cups
c. Using or possessing drugs or alcohol
d. Smoking/chewing tobacco
e. Improper dress; e.g., no shoes, no shirt
f. Carrying a weapon into the Library
g. Bringing animals into the Library, except those needed to assist persons with disabilities
h. Misusing restrooms (i.e., serious, habitual messiness, washing of laundry)
i. Solicitations of any kind
j. Leaving a child alone in the Library without adult supervision
k. Talking loudly, making noise, or engaging in other disruptive behavior; playing of audiovisual equipment that others can hear.
l. Theft and/or misappropriation of Library or another user's property
m. Falsification of records; e.g., lying or misrepresenting oneself while registering
n. Using another person's ID (and barcode) to check out Library materials
o. Interfering with another person's use of the Library; harassment, verbal abuse of other Library users
p. Interfering with Library staff's performance of their duties; harassment, verbal abuse of staff members
q. Refusing to leave the premises at Library closing time
r. Refusing to discontinue use of equipment, such as computers, printers or xerox machines, after closing announcements.
s. Physical violence
t. Vandalism; abuse or misuse of Library equipment or property
u. Telephone harassment of other users or staff
v. Failing to report and surrender any lost items or money found on Library premises to Library staff
LIBRARY PRIVILEGES MAY BE LIMITED OR REVOKED FOR VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES
