Statement on Computer Privacy


The Weill Cornell Medical Library publishes this statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. Users should be aware that the Internet is not a secure medium and that third parties may be able to obtain information regarding your activities. However, the Weill Cornell Medical Library will not release information on the use of specific Internet resources by library patrons except as required by law.

This web site links to documents located on web sites maintained by other organizations. Once you access an individual document that links you to another web site, you are subject to the privacy policy of the web site containing that document. The information we receive depends on what you do when you visit our site. If you visit our site to browse, or to read or to download information like e-journals, we collect and store the following information: the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com or princeton.edu); the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time our site is accessed; and the Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to our site. We use this information to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site and to help us make our site more useful. The Weill Cornell Medical Library does not track individuals. If you choose to identify yourself to a third party by filling out on-line forms we cannot control how that information might be used. We do not use "cookies" on this site to capture and retain personal information.
